The Round Tower, or Rundetaarn in Danish, is a historic tower in the heart of Copenhagen. It was built in the 17th century as an astronomical observatory and is still used today for various cultural and scientific activities. The tower is an impressive structure and an important part of Copenhagen’s skyline.
In addition to its historical significance, the Round Tower also houses an observatory and a viewpoint. The observatory was established in the mid-17th century and is still in use today for astronomical observations. Visitors can climb the spiral ramp to reach the observation deck at the top of the tower, which offers panoramic views of the city.
Location and Opening Hours
The Round Tower is located in the city center, near the famous pedestrian shopping street of Strøget. It is open daily from 10 am to 8 pm during summertime. And 10 am to 6 pm during winter days. You can enter the Round Tower for free with the Copenhagen Card. The admission for it is 40 DKK or 5 Euros / US Dollars separately.

The tower stands at 36 meters high and is famous for its unique spiral ramp that winds its way up to the top. This ramp was originally designed so that a horse and carriage could carry heavy equipment up to the observatory, but today visitors can climb the ramp on foot to enjoy the stunning views of Copenhagen from the top.
